Workshops for kitas and school groups

We aim to awaken curiosity and the zest for experimentation of young visitors with our workshops and guided tours. From April 10, 2019, we start our children and youth program with new themes and topics. All workshops revolve around exploration, curiosity and amazement. In our rooms, the students have an inspiring environment and a space to try and tinker. Together with artists, art, theater and music educators, they will encounter objects from the exhibitions, describe their perspectives on the works and playfully explore contexts.

1. BEYOND – This World and the Hereafter

The otherworldly, as eternal enigma, accompanies the history of humanity and has found its way into many different cultures. In a combined tour through the Wunderkammer Olbricht and the exhibition BEYOND, the children and adolescents will get to know symbols, motifs and stories about the otherworldly. In the practical part, we approach the question of what paradise might look like. The students are encouraged to give free rein to their imagination and thereby become experimental and artistically active.

2. Wunderkammer Olbricht – Traveling with Humboldt

Based on measurements and data, which Alexander von Humboldt collected with the aid of sophisticated instruments and his sensory perception, he understood nature as a whole and tried to present it aesthetically appealing. In our workshop, the children go on a field research to walk on Humboldt’s tracks through the Wunderkammer Olbricht. In the practical part, the children and teenagers independently develop a fantasy plant and learn an archaeological drawing technique.

3. Wunderkammer Olbricht – Amazement, Discovery, Understanding

Rare treasures, wonderful and old from Renaissance and Baroque times but also something new are presented on a journey through the Wunderkammer Olbricht. The children get to know mythological figures and classical handicrafts from different countries and can also experience materials in a haptic way. In the practical part, the students independently create a concept of a Wunderkammer and implement it creatively.
